Downloading and Importing Do Not Call Lists

Downloading the National call Lists for your Area.

Anyone can Download the National No Call list for their business. Downloading and importing into your autodialer or scrubber is essential if you do not want to be fined for calling No Call registrants. However the process is not that simple. I have written out the following information to assist you in downloading and importing the No Calls Lists into your Autodialer. Currently you may download up to 5 area codes free of charge. You can go to the  National No Call Registry to begin this process at anytime. However you may first want to read the information on this page before doing so

The National No call List has two types of downloads, Full list downloads and Change list down loads.

Full List Download is a download that contains all the registered telephone numbers within the area codes that are part of your organization’s subscription. Downloads of multiple area codes or states have to be done sequentially by file. Each area code or state list is a discrete file. A download of the entire National Registry is one discrete file.

Change List Download is a download that contains telephone numbers added to or deleted from the National Registry since the last time your organization downloaded its subscription. You will be notified by email when the change list download is ready, which may take up to 24 hours.

Interactive Phone Search allows you to enter an area code and up to 10 telephone numbers in that area code. For each telephone number entered, the system displays whether the number is Registered or Not Registered.

There are two types of files you can download.

Flat Text File is a comma-delimited flat text file (for the full list) containing one area code and telephone number per line, separated by a comma. A comma-delimited text file (for the change list) has several data items per record, separated by commas. Flat text file works best for importing into Autodialer software.

XML Tagged File is an XML tagged file containing both data and markers ("tags") with information in angle brackets that indicate the nature of the data.

Download files are compressed or zipped to make downloads faster and more secure.
Use any standard software for uncompressing or unzipping downloaded files. If you do not have this software installed on your computer, you can download it from one of the Web sites that offer such software:

You must uncompress the Downloaded files before attempting to import

Generally, you will need to rename the downloaded file to conform to the conventions required by the decompression software you are using.  For example, you may need to rename the file so it has a .ZIP file extension.  After you rename the file, then click on it to launch the decompression software.  For details, you should consult the documentation for your decompression software.

How large are the download files? How much disk space do they take?

The full list will grow larger as more telephone numbers are entered into the National Registry. The size of a change list depends on how long ago you downloaded a list and how many telephone numbers were added and deleted during that time. The average single area currently has around 200 to 300 thousand numbers and are slightly less than 1 megabyte in size. Meaning you should be able to fit most single area codes on one floppy. That is in compressed format and refers to flat file sizes.

Once the files are uncompressed you will need to store them in your autodialer hard drive

The best place to store them is the List subfolder located on the C hard drive under the Sundial folder.

National No Calls list many times do not come with the extension at the end. If your DO NOT CALL was downloaded as a flat text file and has been successfully uncompressed and stored in the List folder. But still doesn’t show up as a text file, in other words does not have a txt extension at the end, simply right click on the file and select it’s properties. Under properties rename the file by adding txt extension at the end. The would be (nocalls filename).txt. When you added the txt extension simply apply and exit.

Importing a good No Calls File into your Autodialer.

As long as it is a standard Ascii comma delimited text file you can now import the no Calls into your autodialer software. (Please read section 4 of your Autodialer Manual on importing into Listmaker).  Importing a No Calls list follows the same steps as the manual describes, with the exception of saving to the Nocalls.mdb file located in the Sundial folder. You must save your No Call numbers in the Nocalls.mdb file located in the Sundial folder are they will not be excluded from your dialing lists. Because the Nocalls.mdb file already exists you will have to append the NO Calls Data to the list to add numbers to it.  Simply select the nocalls.mdb file located in the Sundial folder and save.  When you press the "Save" button, the "Append to Existing  File " window will open.  Press "Yes" and the data you import  will be added to the Nocalls.mdb file. This is the last step in importing the No Call Data into your autodialer if you have a good file. The problem is that it looks as if some of the files from the National no call registry or not standard Ascii comma delimited text files and will have to be reformatted into a useful Ascii comma delimited format before they can be imported. If you cannot import the nocalls database you will first have to import the file into Microsoft access. This is not a simple process but can be done using the following steps.

Using Microsoft Access to reformat file. Open Microsoft Access and Create a database to use to import NoCalls List

 1. When Microsoft Access first starts up, a dialog box is automatically displayed with options to create a new database or open an existing one. If this dialog box is displayed, click Blank Database, and then click OK.

Ron, your auto dialer is amazing. I've already closed 7 deals this month that's more than I did the last 2 months. I never believed it would produce such solid leads. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you; The leads are great and the Autodialer is great. Dale W. - Mortgage Broker - Texas
